Super-Resistant-Coat

Durable, resilient coating that resists scratching and accumulation of dust and pollen

Heightens spectacle lens surface hardness to improve scratch resistance performance.
Also consists of an additional anti-static function to prevent static electricity occurring on the lens surface during wiping, for example.
Resists attachment of substances such as "dust and pollen" and improves wiping performance to achieve improved comfort of use.

Customers for whom Super-Resistant-Coat is recommended

  • People who find that their lenses often become scratched. People who tend to scratch lenses during wiping.
  • People who find that dust and pollen tend to remain even after wiping.
  • People who have trouble with the surface smoothness of their lenses making wiping difficult.
  • People who find that their lenses often become grimy and need frequent wiping.

Points of durability and functional reinforcement of Super-Resistant-Coat

1. Powerful resistance to scratching (Improved scratch resistance performance)

Powerful resistance to scratching (Improved scratch resistance performance)

A Bayer test was used to apply vibration 600 times to standard sand (500 g) and a sample lens of 1.67 material to scratch the lens and the degree of damage was then measured.

The degree of resistance to scratching of Super-Resistant-Coat is at least 1.5 greater than that of Super Hydrophobic coat, also manufactured by SEIKO.

Ordinary coat (Super Anti Reflection coating (SAR)). Extreme fogginess resulting from scratching. Super Hydrophobic coat. Considerable fogginess resulting from scratching. Super-Resistant-Coat. Little fogginess resulting from scratching

2. Resistance to Dust Buildup (Additional anti-static function)

Static electricity readily accumulates on ordinary plastic lenses due to insulating materials, attracting substances such as dust and pollen.
Super-Resistant-Coat eliminates the occurrence of static electricity even if the lens is rubbed, facilitating lens care by making it difficult for substances such as dust and pollen to attach to the lens surface.

Ordinary plastic lens

Static electricity readily accumulates on ordinary plastic lenses due to insulating materials, attracting substances such as dust and pollen.

Super-Resistance-Coat

Provision of a special film (conduction film) that releases static electricity makes it difficult for substances such as dust and pollen to become attached to the lens surface.

3. Reduced Reflectance (For wide-area anti-reflective film)

Achieving a coating that gives a sense of clearness that reduces the wearer's awareness of light from behind by suppression of long wavelength (650 nm - 700 nm) reflection from diagonal incident light.

Realization of low reflection not only from frontal light, but also from diagonal light.
This feature also suppresses reflection of light from behind when wearing spectacles to ensure a clear field of vision.
In addition, reflected colour changes are also reduced.

Spectral reflectance

<Vertical Incidence>

The vertical incidence reflected colour for both Super Hydrophobic coat and Super-Resistant-Coat is green.

Spectral reflectance

<30-degree incidence>

Super Hydrophobic coat and other pervious coats give a reddish impression depending on the angle of vision, but Super-Resistant-Coat suppresses this phenomenon.

4. Grime-resistant Coating

Grime-resistant Coating

The grime-resistant coating makes it easy to wipe off grime due to its ability to repel substances such as water or oil.
Enhanced lens surface water and oil repelling performance facilitates lens care.

Compared to ordinary coats, "Super-Resistant-Coat" forms oil into tiny spherical droplets, demonstrating excellent water and oil repellant performance.

Cautions

  • Scratches or dust and pollen buildup may still occur on lens depending on how they are handled.
In addition, exposure to impact or repeated impact in excess of levels sustainable by the lens performance may cause damage.

Comparison of lens coating performance

  • Super Hydrophobic coat, Super Clean Coat (SCC), Keep Clear Coat (KCC) and Fogless coat cannot be applied to the same lens.
  • Super-Resistant-Coat is provided with a shock-absorption function. (Different to "High impact Process" "PR Coat")
Not compatible with "High impact Process" or "PR Coat"
