Seiko’s new ‘Transitions (R)’ series is being launched with Material 160 added. This is an expansion of the range of lenses for everyday use that protect your eyes from UV rays and the glare of the sun.

Seiko Optical Products Co., Ltd. (President; Takashi Wakuyama, Head Office: Chuo Ward, Tokyo) will start accepting orders simultaneously nationwide from June 1 for Seiko’s new ‘Transitions (R) series’, that was launched in April, in 1.60 index available in six designs.

Seiko’s new ‘Transitions’ series has been given the Transitions (R) VI’ treatment, which is the sixth generation of ‘Transitions (R)’ for Seiko’s plastic lenses, and are photochromic lenses offer even better vision than previous generations. The lens density automatically changes depending on the amount of ultraviolet rays. These lenses cut out almost 100% of harmful ultraviolet rays, reduces glare caused by visible rays and increase the visual quality. Furthermore, they can be used as everyday lenses because of the stable color fading speed. At the same time, these ‘Transitions (R) VI’ designs have an even higher color density than our traditional ‘Seiko Vision Tech’ outdoors and have achieved a high level of transparency indoors.

 

Now, two multifocal tailor made lens designs, three multifocal custom made lens designs and one custom made by age related design that were released in 1.67 index in April will be launched 1.60 index. Each of these designs will come in brown and gray, so in total there are six designs and twelve options that are being added. In addition, ‘Super-Resistance-Coat’ will be available as an option on 1.67 index lenses from June. With the introduction of 1.60 index, for the first time in Seiko’s ‘Transitions (R) series, we are offering more choices to consumers in Japan’s ever expanding photo chromatic lens market.

- CREATING THE BEST VISION -

 

★The time until fading to 70% transmittance in conditions at 23℃ is about seven minutes for brown lenses and nine minutes for gray lenses (after being reacted for 15 minutes).
★The density change varies depending on factors such as the power of the ultraviolet rays, the weather conditions and the materials of the lenses. In particular, in summertime when there are high temperatures (30℃ or over), it depends on the usage and environmental conditions, but there is a trend for the lenses to be considerably lighter than the original color density.

★In recent cars, ultraviolet ray reduction treatment has been applied to the windshield and other windows, so the lens color may not change inside the car when driving.
