Up to now, it has not been possible to fully accommodate elements such as differences in "the position and height of the nose and ears" and the "frame tilt angle" even with tailor-made lenses.

SEIKO has solved the issue of pantoscopic tilt in our Superior P-1 lenses. We adjust the lenses to the pantoscopic tilt of the customer and so it has become possible to perform optimal aspheric correction from 0 to 20 degrees in 1 degree increments over 21 options.
In addition, <9 types> of "progressive corridor length" are now available in 1 mm steps within a range of 10 - 18 mm, <51 types> of "inset of the near zone" in 0.1 mm steps within a range of 0 - 5 mm, and, with the addition of <3 types> of basic design, it is now possible to create an almost infinite number of designs incorporating the customer's unique data.

SEIKO's Superior P-1 is a truly "ultra-personalized lens" that makes it possible to provide customers with a single optimum tailor-made lens selected from this almost infinite variety of possibilities.

3 general-purpose types of design are available for selection to match the customer's lifestyle and purpose of usage.

The term "pantoscopic tilt " refers to the degree of tilt when spectacle frames are worn. This pantoscopic tilt angle differs depending on the position of the nose or ears and the angle unique to the spectacle frames themselves. SuperiorP-1 enables optimum aspheric adjustments to the customer's forward tilt angle in steps of 1 degree within a range of 0 - 20 degrees.
This makes it possible to provide customers with ideal comfort of vision when wearing spectacles.

9 options for the corridor length are available for selection to match the "progressive lens currently used," "lifestyle" and "frame size."

The availability of 9 options for the corridor length means that customers can select lenses that suit their visual lifestyle.

As lifestyles have become increasingly diversified, so individual differences in close-work distance have increased. In addition, the horizontal direction prism effect changes with near sight power and this also results in variations in the near zone inset.
SuperiorP-1 enables setting of the near zone inset in 0.1 mm gradations within a range of 0.0 - 5.0 mm, making it possible to achieve the optimum inset of the near zone for each individual customer and to make full use of the near distance segment
Note that the left and right inset of the near zone may be set individually.

* When looking at an object approaching from the distance without moving the head, the eyes converge, with the result that the line of vision through a point on the lens shifts. To allow for this, the near distance area is positioned towards the nasal area, not directly below the distance vision area: This is referred to as "inset" and the quantity of this shift as "inset value."
The far distance PD, close work distance and near sight power differ for each individual.

Beautiful fit in small frames

SuperiorP-1 is an "ultra-personalized lens" that features 3 options for the basic design, 9 options for the corridor length (10 mm - 18 mm), 51 options for the near zone insert and 21 options for the frame tilt.
Fine settings can be made to match the customer's lifestyle, circumstances of usage and frame shapes. Selection can be made from an extremely short procorridor of 10 mm.
For this reason, the lens can be neatly accommodated in shallow frames, an achievement difficult to realize with previous progressive lenses.

Thin, lightweight and comfortable to wear

*This is an image of S-6.00D. SEIKO's previous lens used 1.50 material.

The numerical value that indicates the ability of the lens material to refract light is called the "refractive index" and the higher this index, the thinner the lens. The SuperiorP-1 Series features a lineup of 3 types of material: Ultra-high 1.74 refractive index material, high index 1.67 material and 1.60 index material.
The 1.74 material in particular offers the wearer the chance to experience the comfort of the world's thinnest plastic lens.
In addition, the back surface aspheric design featuring an aspheric surface on the front side of the lens also contributes to achieving a thin lens.
This contributes to both thinness and lightness.
The Superior P-1 Series offers solutions to problems such as spectacle weight, spectacles sliding down the nose and after traces of nose pads.

Adopted technologies

Refractive Index (Thinness)

Our glass lenses are all plastic lenses.
The more material with a large refractive index is used, the more it is possible to have a thinner finish in lenses of the same power.

UV-cut Coating

Sunlight contains ultraviolet rays such as UV-A waves that are known to tan the skin and form blemishes on the skin or cause skin to sag and UV-B waves that are believed to cause skin aging and form skin blemishes or freckles. Lenses furnished with a function to cut out these harmful ultraviolet rays are called "UV-cut lenses."

Seiko’s UV-cut process results in the elimination of more or less 100% of ultraviolet rays of 400 nm or less.

Scratch-resistant Coating for Prevention of Lens Damage

This is a process that improves the resistance of plastic lenses to scratches, the greatest drawback of this type of lens. Normally, all SEIKO lenses are provided with a coating for protection against scratches as standard.

"Super-Resistant-Coat" provides the ultimate protection against damage.

Grime-resistant Coating

The grime-resistant coating is a new high-quality coating that realizes enhanced lens surface water-repelling and oil-repelling performance.
This groundbreaking coating features a remarkable improvement in the contact angle between the lens surface and the attached matter, demonstrating the ability to quickly repel substances such as water and oil. In addition, compared to older products, the coefficient of friction on the lens surface is 60% lower, making it possible to easily wipe off grime that contributes to lens fogginess such as sebum, fingerprints and substances that become attached while performing housework, including for example, oil film and cosmetics.

A grime-resistant coating makes it so much easier to care for spectacles and greatly enhances usability.

Shock-resistant Reinforced Coating

Up to the present, spectacle lens safety has been based on the widely-known American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) standards. Combining its cutting-edge technologies, SEIKO has developed a shock-resistant coating that achieves a degree of shock resistance even higher than that defined in FDA standards, resulting in greatly-enhanced spectacle safety.

Anti-static Coating

Static electricity readily accumulates on ordinary plastic lenses, attracting substances such as dust and pollen. This coating features a special film (conduction film) that releases static electricity, making it difficult for substances such as dust and pollen to become attached to the lens surface.

Anti-fogging Coating

The anti-fogging coating is a new type of coating that prevents lenses from fogging when exposed to changes in temperature as the wearer moves from one location to another.
Powerful anti-fogging effects and high sustainability can be realized by carrying out simple, regular maintenance by coating the coating film that features high hydrophilicity with maintenance cleaner with an even greater degree of hydrophilicity.
